Everything Just Got Clearer.
Watch for your NEW Utility Statement in April 2019!
Starting April 1, 2019, City of Saskatoon utility customers will receive their Utility Statement in a new format, with clearer and easier to read billing sections to improve communication and customer understanding.
Your new statement is less complicated and cluttered, has larger, easier to read text and billing sections marked with visual icons. Doing our part for the environment, we've reduced the length of your utility bill by printing less paper. The majority of utility customers will receive a one-page legal size statement.
The City of Saskatoon sets its utility rates to match those established by SaskPower, and includes the Municipal Surcharge charged by SaskPower. This is to create fairness in rates and equality between utility customers regardless of where they live within Saskatoon Light & Power's or SaskPower’s service areas.
And, if you're ready to say good-bye to your paper utility bill, it's easy to make the switch over to paperless eBill today!
Federal Carbon Charge Effective April 1, 2019
The Government of Canada has implemented a carbon pollution pricing system, which will impact utility customers’ electrical bill. Starting April 1, 2019, a Federal Carbon Charge will be clearly identified on your utility statement. The Federal Carbon Charge will be calculated based on the amount of electricity you use and will be applied on a kilowatt hour (kWh) basis. Although the Government of Saskatchewan is challenging this pricing system in court, it still applies during the legal process. More information: Federal Carbon Charge and how it applies to Saskatchewan residents.
Important Information for our Utility Customers:
The Carbon Charge will be applied on the electrical portion of your City of Saskatoon utility bill from April 1 to December 31. 2019. City of Saskatoon utility customers will not receive back-billing for electrical usage prior to April 1, 2019.
